August is here and the full swing of summer is at its zenith.  But alas, all is not forsaken: with August comes the beginning of school for Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco County Public School Systems (a sigh of relief and slight cheer from every parent; click here for the Hillsborough’s calendar, Pinellas’ calendar and Pasco’s calendar).  Also debuting in August is football with both college (California vs. Hawaii in Sydney, Australia, 8/28) and pre-season professional (Tampa at Philadelphia, 8/11) kicking off this month as well as local high school programs.  And while these may be two big ticket attractions of the month, that does not mean there aren’t plenty of incredible things to do in the Tampa Bay area throughout the month.  Whatever your inclination, Tampa offers abundant choices ranging from open air concerts at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and cosplaying at Tampa Comic Con to downing martinis at a Moffitt charity event and quaffing brews at a beer fest.  However you end up spending this August, have fun, be good and stay out of the heat.
